HUMAN IMPACT

What is the impact of human actions (both positive and negative) on your issue?

Human actions play both a negative and positive role on sustainable food growth.

In Hawai’i, majority of the food is imported. As Hawai’i is the most isolated place on Earth, dependency on the continental United States in high. Although this may be seen as a negative, there are numerous ways in which it can be turned around.

Ideally, the government and local farmers can collaborate to create a larger margin of food produced in Hawai’i.

New policies can be established in which allow greater protected farming land in order to sustain Hawaii's population. Along with a change in policy, education can be provided to the public along with the keiki.

Getting the future generation of Hawai’i involved in current matters will help to ensure sustainability the state.
