HOW CAN YOU DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT A SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY THAT CONTRIBUTES TO YOUR SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT?

  • As this project is centered around children, the scientific inquiry contributed will be pre and post knowledge of sustainable agriculture education.

  • The pre and post survey will be given orally and include general knowledge ‘yes or no’ questions due to the children's age and capabilities.

WHY IS YOUR METHOD THE BEST WAY TO COLLECT USEFUL DATA?

  • Due to the children's age, a simple survey will serve as the best data collection. This pre and post data will serve as benchmark to the children's understanding of why agricultural sustainably is important in Hawaii.

  • A possible survey may also be conducted to for parents of the children in order to get more accurate and precise data. Questions on the parents survey would be open ended and presumed to have more information.

HOW CAN THESE METHODS AND FINDINGS INFORM YOUR ACTIONS?

  • Pre data collected from the students will serve as a good benchmark of their beginning knowledge.

  • Post data collected will hopefully show an increase in knowledge and understanding of sustainable agricultural practices.

  • Knowledge obtained throughout the lesson (the action) will be recognizable and has the ability to be measureded via survey.
